Hello,
I have just built in CONFIG_SND_USB to use microphone in Logitech STX web camera. The result is skype generates sound as previously and new mic is working fine. The problem is I can't hear anything from any other program (like firefox, audacious).
Is it possible to configure both drivers properly to have a sound regardless of application (skype should only use SND_USB for microphone, the rest - SND_PCI)?
Here is the part of .config that relates to snd and is currently set on my box. VIA82XX is my primary sound device...
Code: |
darek@panda /usr/src/linux $ grep SND .config
CONFIG_SND=m
CONFIG_SND_TIMER=m
CONFIG_SND_PCM=m
CONFIG_SND_HWDEP=m
CONFIG_SND_RAWMIDI=m
CONFIG_SND_SEQUENCER=m
CONFIG_SND_SEQ_DUMMY=m
CONFIG_SND_OSSEMUL=y
CONFIG_SND_MIXER_OSS=m
CONFIG_SND_PCM_OSS=m
CONFIG_SND_VMASTER=y
CONFIG_SND_DMA_SGBUF=y
CONFIG_SND_RAWMIDI_SEQ=m
CONFIG_SND_MPU401_UART=m
CONFIG_SND_AC97_CODEC=m
CONFIG_SND_PCI=y
CONFIG_SND_VIA82XX=m
CONFIG_SND_USB=y
CONFIG_SND_USB_AUDIO=m

Thanks in advance! |

It seems the problem is SND_PCI is not a default audio device. Audacious and VLC play sound if source is defined as a VIA8235 directly. I tried to setup the order of loading sound modules in alsa.conf but it didn't work either... |
