Overlay image on webcam

Dear All,

I want to overlay image on my webcam following are the steps taken.

Executed the below script on Terminal 1
1. mkfifo tfifo
2. mplayer -vf bmovl=0:0:tfifo tv://

At this stage I was able to view my webcam.

I opened an another terminal and entered the below script.
1. echo "RGBA32 200 200 0 0 0 1"; cat overlay.rgba >tfifo

At this stage I got a message on the terminal saying "vf_bmovl: Unknown command: ''. Ignoring." after few seconds mplayer crashes.

It would be really helpful if someone can help me to resolve this issue since my career depends on this.
