|
|
Been fighting with the deceased fuhquake, the no-host nquake, the fugly ezquake and am nearly satisfied with darkplaces, except no sound. Quake seems to be looking for an alsa pcm device that I don't have. I'll keep this short initially as I'm guessing this is a common and straightforward issue. Any tips?
More info:
S_Startup: initializing sound output format: 48000Hz, 16 bit, 2 channels...
SndSys_Init: using the ALSA module
SndSys_Init: PCM device is "default"
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1018:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
SndSys_Init: can't open audio device "default" (No such file or directory)
S_Startup: sound output initialization FAILED
FIXED:
-sndpcm "adsp1" _________________ MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk

Do you actually have ALSA installed and working? *Everyone* has the "default" PCM.
I've been using ALSA in darkplaces for many years. |

Just our of curiosity. Did you try FodQuake lately? I don't think it is in in portage but you can get source and binaries from the project's homepage http://fodquake.net/
I recommend getting a test versions as the latest release is quite dated. Let the project know when you encounter bugs.. |
