Hi,

since the vanilla sources kernel 3.x came out, I was unable to compile it on my Mac Mini G4 (1GB RAM, 4GM swap space) anymore. Today I finally sat down and figured the problem out. I have sys-kernel/genkernel-3.4.16 installed where the script /usr/share/genkernel/gen_arch.sh checks only for kernels >= 2.6.16 and >= 2.7 in set_kernel_arch() but not for kernels >= 3.x in order to modify the kernel architecture string. I wrote a small patch and updated the genkernel 3.4.16 ebuild on my machine and it seems to work fine now. Is anybody else interested in testing the patched genkernel package?

Cheers,
T.

If you could please make a bug and attach your patch, that would be really helpful!

Thanks!

Hi Jose,

I just saw that sys-kernel/genkernel-3.4.18 contains the bug fix already. But it has not been marked as stable yet. 8) Should I submit a request for stabilisation of this version instead?

Cheers,
T.
