Not sure if I'm doing something wrong but I can't emerge genkernel on my Ultra 2. It says masked even if I use : Code: | ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~sparc" emerge genkernel |
I suppose I can build the kernel by hand but genkernel hasn't failed me on any of my x86 boxes. Or is genkernel just not available on Sparcs? |

I tried it on PPC last night, and it worked wonderfully. There aren't any default configs for other archs though, so you'll have to do a Code: | "genkernel --configure" | the first time to get the config in a useable state. After that, it worked just as expected. I've been trying to sign up for the bugs, but it never sends me the email. I try all kinds of stuff on the sparc and PPC. Fluxbox, netatalk, and bochs work fine on sparc. xosview works fine on both. Can't remember if MozillaFirebird was masked, but it's been working fine on both. You'll have to use "x86" or "~x86" though. _________________ Gentoo systems.

genkernel doesn't work properly on sparc just now. If you're needing a kernel config, I'm building up a collection at http://dev.gentoo.org/~ciaranm/configs/kernel/ .
BTW, please feel free to mail other .configs to ciaranm at gentoo.org I'd need to know the kernel sources and version (eg sparc-sources 2.4.23), the machine (eg ultra10), anything fancy about the kernel (eg 'for a router', 'includes usb support') and the output of ls -ldh vmlinux . I'm also collecting XFree config files... |

Yeah I built the kernel alright. I'm just too lazy to add it into silo.conf and reboot right now. And there's nothing fancy about my config. Just cut it down to size eliminating stuff where I knew I could. |
