sormy,

Take the ro option out of your grub.conf
Its not needed as root is always mounted ro until ckroot has been run, after that passes, root is remounted rw.

Code:

md126: detected capacity change from 0 to 500104691712
 mdmon[15403] general protection ip:400534 sp:7ff8cb2284f8 error:0 in mdmon[400000+e1000]

May be this causes problem, but i didn't found any information about this kind of error.

I found that all works correctly when I boot from gentoo minimal livecd:
Code:

md/raid1:md126: active with 2 out of 2 mirrors
md126: detected capacity change from 0 to 500104691712
 md126: p1 p2 < p5 p6 p7 p8 >
md: md126 switched to read-write mode.

But when i'm booting from the same .config kernel (copied from livecd) from hdd:
Code:

md/raid1:md126: active with 2 out of 2 mirrors
md126: detected capacity change from 0 to 500104691712
mdmon[15403] general protection ip:400534 sp:7ff8cb2284f8 error:0 in mdmon[400000+e1000]
 md126: p1 p2 < p5 p6 p7 p8 >
EXT4-fs (md126p5): mounted filesystem with ordered data mode. Opts: (null)

PS: raid1 array in normal state:
Code:

livecd ~ # cat /proc/mdstat
Personalities : [raid0] [raid1] [raid6] [raid5] [raid4] [raid10]
md126 : active raid1 sda[1] sdb[0]
      488383488 blocks super external:/md127/0 [2/2] [UU]

md127 : inactive sdb[1](S) sda[0](S)
      4514 blocks super external:imsm

tried mdmon ~3.1.5 - same result
hmm why livecd works different from real system kernel?
same kernel, same mdadm, same genkernel, same kernel config, same raid autodetect...

i copied gentoo/gentoo.igz and modules from minimal install disk...
and it works!!!

I have no idea why fresh build kernel and mdadm not works correctly:
Code:

CFLAGS="-O2 -pipe -march=native"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu"
USE="unicode"
MAKEOPTS="-j5"

sormy,

The CDs are made with a tool called catalyst.

I'm not sure if
Code:
emerge catalyst
also provides the build scripts to build the liveCDs.
The scripts are certianly available.

Finally...

Problem in code generated by genkernel only for mdadm.
I replaced mdadm/mdmon by livecd version from ramdisk image.

Now i can rebuild kernel, but need to patch mdadm/mdmon in ramdisk after every build...

Still looking for better solution...

PS: it seems like gcc code optimization bug...

sormy,

Genkernel is widely regarded as a part of the problem, not a part of the solution.

Build your kernel by hand, build your initrd by hand. I can post some links if you like.
Its only time consuming the fisrt time.

Oh, and go to bugs.gentoo.org and file a bug about genkernel.

NeddySeagoon, thanks for your help.

Yes, I undestand. There is no problems with kernel. Only with mdadm.
Both build of mdadm not works for me: from genkernel and USE="static" emerge mdadm.
Not works only for imsm!

But livecd mdadm in initramdisk works with no errors!!!

Now i'm using ramdisk overlay great feature of genkernel to not forget about replacing mdadm/mdmon in ramdisk by livecd's versions.

Hmm... How can i detect which gcc version was used to build mdadm for livecd and which params was used?

I know, I can build mdadm manually by different versions of gcc and with different optimization flags and finally locate problem... But it's so time consumption...

sormy,

The liveCD is built with the current stable portage tree at the time of the build, so its gcc build version varies with time.
mdadm only take the static USE flag and that must be on for use in an initrd as no libraries or dynamic linker will be available.

If you mean what gcc options were used to build mdadm on the liveCD, you will need to ask the release engineering team.
The best way to reach them is an email to their alias, or ask in #gentoo-releng on irc.freenode.net

it seems like a problem from using too old stage3...

Hardened profile updated not so often as regular profiles.

I don't know which action exactly helps, but
I have done two actions:
1) switched to gcc 4.5 from 4.4 (in current hardened stage 3 default is 4.4)
2) re emerge world, clear genkernel cache, genkernel all

Thank you for help. May be this topic will help to someone.
