Hey guys,

I have been trying to get quake2 to start with no success over the past week. I run the amd64 Sabayon 3.0.0 and 3.1.0 kernel at the moment.

I have tried the native quake2 binary, sdlquake2, icculus and qudos. Kmquake2 is no longer available, sadly, so i cannot test it. They all exit with the same error after the intro video. From my research it has something to do with how memory is handled in a 64 bit environment. There were fixes in 2006 for this, but I don't think they are relevant anymore.
Has anybody else managed to get quake2 to run successfully in a 64 bit environment, or suffer from this problem?

Code:

...
Installation
==== ShutdownGame ====
Cmd_RemoveCommand: joy_advancedupdate not added
Error, Problem closing joystick.recursive shutdown
Error: Hunk_End:  Could not remap virtual block (2)

Is supposedly fixed in Mandriva's quake2 (directory) - try its patches.
