Hello,
do you know about some really functional tool GNU, for free, for recovering lost data on linux for fat32, which I can emerge on gentoo?
Thanks a lot |

Thanks, would it also recover the data structure of lost data, I mean files with folders? I don't have problems with deleted files, don't need to recover simply deleted files and folders but with lost files. The used capacity of the disk is still same, but there is about 100 g/b less of visible data, some folders and files have just disappeared. |

uhm.. testdisk has several recover options. I've used it once to recover a broken disk and wrote the output into an image on another disk. It could recover folders and files as far as i recall.

Well, I tried to make an image, but even if I have 400 giga left space on the other disk, where I was saving the image, when I've tried to save the image, it stopped on 2 giga with the message that the disk is full. Any alternative program?
Thanks |

I try to keep a fairly recent SystemRescueCD around. It's got recovery tools, though at the moment I don't know which. It's one of those "learn upon need" tools, for me. Google is your friend, SystemRescueCD has a decent website documenting the contents. _________________ .sigs waste space and bandwidth |
