can not emerge Revelation error
Code:
checking python module gnome... yes
checking python module gnomeapplet... no
configure: error: failed to find module gnomeapplet

trying to emerge gnome-applets gets me
Code:
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.4.5/../../../../x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: cannot find -lxcb-aux
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

unfortunately Revelation has all my password locked up nice an tight where even I can not get at them.
Any ideas ?

Did you run revdep-rebuild?
If it doesn't work, try https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-877149-start-0.html .

revdep-rebuild did not help,
and I have now been through every post in that thread (previously I skim read it and tried a few things), exactly the same result.

any other ideas?
is anyone other than me using revelation ?
what option have I got to recover the data from the password protected revelation file ?

A quick google shows a) lots of "I love revelation as my linux password manager" posts and b) worryingly dead links to the project.

it does appear revelation is dead or dying looking at the releases and commits.

i ended up installing an older version of revelation on an even older ubuntu laptop copying across my encrypted password list opening them and then exporting, now to find a new password manager.

Its a pity because Revelation just worked and did everything I needed it to.

Upstream has option to disable the applet at build time so you won’t have that problem again. There will be a release soon.
