Hi all,
I'm having a problem with my xorg. I've comiled the kernel with agpgart module and intel i915 OK.
But when I try to do X -configure, I got the follow error.

Fatal error: No screens found.

My consolekit is installed and started.

Anyone already passed through this ?!

I can put more information here. But I'm new on gentoo and in this forum too. So let me know what do you need more.

Best,
Thank you.

Do you have x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel installed?

Also, is the kernel option CONFIG_DRM_I915_KMS=y for kernel mode setting used? Recent versions of xf86-video-intel need it to function.

Just for you all to know, I can execute the kdm with the vesa driver.
So, the problem is with the intel driver specific, I guess. But I still don't know how to fix it.

Any ideas !?

Best !

X -configure does not work with KMS.
Give us your unfiltered dmesg and Xorg.0.log

Maybe a BIOS update can help.

Also it seems that you don't have i915 KMS enabled in kernel menuconfig. The current xf86-video-intel driver works only with KMS. See http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/xorg-config.xml how to properly configure your kernel.

I've already built-in the KMS in my kernel, but didn't work.
I will try to update the BIOS and put thre result here.

Is there anything else that I can try ? Because I've to install the windows in my computer to update the BIOS.
Take a look, here is the link to the BIOS driver:

http://www.foxconnsupport.com/download.aspx?models=en-us0000500&category=C000000001&series=en-us0000013&keywords=&sort=BIOS

KMS fails how? logs?

Also the BIOS Version A21F1P05 comes in a zip file which contains a DOS executable, so you can create a FreeDOS bootable CD/USB drive/MEMDISK image and flash from there.

not sure if this will apply to you, but IIRC my new lappy kept oopsing with a similar panic all the time if i enabled DMAR in the kernel by default ( that would be CONFIG_DMAR_DEFAULT_ON).
So, if the suggested bios upgrade doesnt help ( it didnt for me), just disable it ... in case you have it enabled of course.

cheers

Hi my fellows,

I really appreciate your help, but I couldn't fix this problem, I guess it's really a kernel issue.
But I've bought I new video card which is a Geforce 9800 GT.

So now I'll have my Gentoo working. =D

So, Thanks for everyone who try to help me and I'm sorry if I've upset some.

Bye!
See you.
