What is the best way for me to play wma files ? All I get from rhythmbox is that it is missing some GStream plugin to play wma files. But I cannot find that plugin when I looked for it.

Anything that uses FFmpeg should handle it I think. Audacious with the ffaudio input plugin should do the trick if you want a decent GTK+ player. If you just want to play it on the command-line, ffplay (comes with FFmpeg) or MPlayer should do it. I haven't got any WMA files at hand so I might be completely wrong, of course, but if anything can do it, FFmpeg can.

+1
So, if you want to stick to rhythmbox and as rhythmbox depends on gstreamer, I think that you can sort this out by just installing media-plugins/gst-plugins-ffmpeg

media-video/vlc is an even simpler way forward. I'm sure there is something it won't play out of the box, I just haven't run across it yet.

I have all this installed. Yet Rhythmbox complains that it cannot play this file type.
