Greetings,

Well, I am not completely sure where else to put this, but this also isn't a completely Gentoo issue so this is the best place I could think of. For some reason, recently my mouse has started to randomly malfunction and work just fine just as randomly. The mouse does the same thing when running under windows or under Gentoo. I tried a second mouse on the system and the results are the same. Even moving it to another USB port made no difference. Using both mice on a second machine resulted in perfectly working mice with no issues. The only thing I can suspect is an issue with the motherboard itself. Any and all suggestions will be considered. Thank you.

Sounds like a mobo issue. You might be able to remove and replace the mobo's USB hub if you're good at soldering. This would be the cheapest way. Otherwise, you can find a friend to do it or bring the mobo to your local Best Buy or egg head repair shop of any other name.

BUT I would let a couple of other people chime in here first!

(Of course, you can also replace the mobo, but if this is the only problem with it and you're otherwise happy with it, it'd be a waste to toss it.)

Is it happening when plugged into the rear usb ports (part of the mobo) or the front usb ports (part of the pc case and connected to mobo with leads and connector)?

I tried it in both at USB expansion card and the USB hub built into the mobo, actually it was originally in the expansion card. It just seems very weird and random that it is happening.

I am assuming it is solved...kinda. I wasn't even considering the fact that it is a wireless mouse as being part of this issue. It seems to be a radio interference issue because when I put an extender on the receiver and the problem was resolved for the most part.
