Hi Folks!

First off, a big thumbs up for the Gentoo guys for this new forom! Looks spiffy!

Anyway, for a while know iv'e been following this xmms with kde (due to arts, whatever it is) dependancy thing. In the old message board there where a few posts that whenever you wanted to install xmms, the kde-base installed along with it.

At the moment i still have this. I checked the ebuild script for xmms and a few underneath that for anything that pointed to kde, no luck however.

As I realy like xmms, how do I go about solving this issue?

So what exactly is your question? Get rid of the arts dependency?
If you're running 1.1a maybe 1.0 also put add '-arts' to the USE section of your /etc/make.conf

My question is, how do I install xmms without emerge automaticly compiling KDE on my system.

USE "-kde" doesnt seem to do anything.. maybe "-arts" does, ill try it (thought i allready checked this, but i'll see).

woohoo!

Indeed adding 'USE="-arts -kde"' to /etc/make.conf does the trick!

Thanks
