OK, I had built KDE just fine with GCC 3.1.1 before, but then I decided to start over to try 3.2, and then start over again with 3.1.1 when that experiment began to wear thin, and now gcc is seg faulting during the compile of arts, kdelibs and kdebase. Turning down my flags to "-march=athlon-tbird -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" (versus the same with -O3 instead) fixed arts and kdelibs, but not kdebase, all of which worked fine with -O3 the last time I tried with 3.1.1! I can't figure out what I'm doing differently. I've used the same flags since bootstrap. Either I'm losing my mind or gcc3 is just a big leaky pile! I'm recompiling gcc again right now in the hopes that it just needs a kick in the butt or something, but if anybody has any tips I would be insanely joyous to hear them.
Sorry for the vent, but NNnnnggggaaahhhhh! |

Sigh. Poor gcc can't even compile itself without a seg fault. I must have really borked something good. Back to the bootstrap for me. |

OTG ?... i'm not sure what that means... all i know is that i had a lot of trouble bootstraping with GCC 3.2... and this problem went away when i dropped the flag... -fomit-frame-pointer.. |
