In the last days, I realized a few times that my Avatar would sometimes display, and sometimes not. Curious as I am, I opened the image in a new window, and reloaded a few times. The funny thing is that sometimes I get the image, but sometimes I get a 404.

This looks like a setup where a load balancer has multiple synced storage backends, where one of them is malfunctioning or down. This may be a wild guess, but there definitely seems to be an issue.

See for yourself: https://forums.gentoo.org/images/avatars/19265729674c9fac4bb9adf.png (reload a few times).

There is a problem with the avatar replication between the front end servers which we are looking into.

Merged previous post.

Seems like we're having the same issue again with the avatar replication between the two nodes, I'll get someone from our infrastructure team to have a look.
