I'm a new Gentoo user, and I wasn't quite sure where I should post this, so forgive the ignorance. I've been a Slackware user for some time now and I decided to give Gentoo a try. I really like what I've seen so dar. Portage is absolutely great. The only problem is that it won't compile libxml2, which seems to be something needed by a lot of things I want to install. The download goes fine, it compiles fine, but toward the middle of the make process it spits this out:
nanohttp.c: In function 'xmlNanoHTTPConnectAttempt':
nanohttp.c:808: 'len' undeclated (first use in this function)
nanohttp.c:808: (Each undeclared udentifier is reported only once
nanohttp.c:808: for each function it appears in.)
make[2]: *** [nanohttp.lo] Error 1
make[2]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
mv -f .libs/xpath.lo xpath.lo
make[2]: Leaving directory '/var/tmp/portage/libxml2-2.5.7/work/libxml2-2.5.7'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory '/var/tmp/portage/libxml2-2.5.7/work/libxml2-2.5.7'
make: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2
!!! ERROR: dev-libs/libxml2-2.5.7 failed
!!! Function src_compile, Line 44, Exitcode 2
!!! (no error message)
If anyone knows what I should do I would really appreciate it. |

darookee, if by any chance you are using distcc, you may be interested in Bug Report 26518 and Bug Report 31152.
