If I have a binary package that was compiled for, say, a PPC and I have my CHOST set at i686, will portage use the binary package or recompile the binaries? Also, what about changed USE flags? _________________ www.manatee.servemp3.com

PPC = big-endian
i686 = little-endian
You have to rebuild. Different processor architecture. |

right, I understand that, I'm wondering if emerge finds a file that matches the name of the package in question, will it know enough about it to skip it, since it was compiled for the wrong architecture? _________________ www.manatee.servemp3.com

I don't think so... you'll have to manually delete it. |
