I have firefox (not bin) 4.0-r2 installed.
Sometimes when im using it, when i use right click it freeze for a while. I have the same problem with menu (File, Edit, ... ) and other buttons in firefox gui.
It is very strange because, after restart the problem sometimes appear but sometimes dont.
Opss.. I suppose i should write this at "Other Things Gentoo". |

Bare in mind you are using an unstable version of Firefox, so it comes as no surprise to hear this.
What happens when you go back to a stable Firefox? Say version 3.6.16 ? _________________ Whatever you do, do it properly! |

Same problem with firefox 3.6.17 :/
I think that it is a problem with cooperation of firefox with gtk.
Once i had fatal gtk err but i can't call it again :/ (something like this: gtk critical error assertion targets != Null)
And problem with wrong version don't explain problem with thunderbird.
Hmm i have found simmilar: "(firefox-bin:1946): Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_clipboard_set_with_data: assertion `targets != NULL' failed"

I've been having this problem for years with one of my boxes. I've learned to just never right-click.
Today, I finally got sick of it, and am resolved to keep searching till I find the problem.
Heres the best looking bit of info so far:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=567746
Its something to do with libcanberra (pulseaudio)
I'll post again if I find out anything else |

well yay! I finally have got rid of the 5-10s delay every time i rightclick in firefox.
Had to go through and remove support for (-pulseaudio use flag, and rebuild affected packages) and packages relating to everything libcanberra and pulseaudio using tools like "equery depends" and "emerge --depclean".
A good start would be "equery depends libcanberra"
From what I understand, another alternative would be to completely embrace pulseaudio and get it all working properly. In my case ( this is a headless fluxbox vnc terminal server with no sound card), it made more sense to remove pulseaudio and everything touching it, including gnome.
Hope this helps someone. |

Do you mean your own post, or the two year old thread you're replying to? |
