Hi,
Trying to install from usb (install-x86-minimal-20110412.iso) and livedvd (2.6.37-gentoo-r1).
Problem is network adapter BCM4313.
Loader doesn't find it. Manually loading mac, lib, conf, b43, b43legacy modules does nothing. iwconfig prints out "no wireless extensions".
b43 cutter does not recognize latest Broadcom STA driver.
With LiveCD cannot build module from sources because "/lib/modules/2.6.37-gentoo-r1/build. No such file or directory."
Building module on ready gentoo pc might help or not.
Any suggestions?

System Rescue USB Stick Howto Pick a 32 or 64 bit kernel to match your intended install, boot to the xfce GUI, start network manager from the icon in the lower right corner. Run firefox with the handbook in it next to the terminal window, copy and paste.
The minimal install cd is not an "installer", the human is. No part of the install cd becomes part of the installed gentoo system.

| There are certain kernel modules that need to be enabled to work with the B4313. Since you don't have a kernel loaded in yet, I recommend doing the install via wired network (your computer should have a wired ethernet port) until you have a working bootable kernel, THEN worry about getting the wireless working. This is how I had to do it on my iBook G4 just recently. |

Done using altkernel 2.6.38. But still no wireless connection, no modules. |

Use a LiveUSB distro that already has the driver included. |

to whoever is reading this - it makes much more sense to order $10 atheros card off ebay and wait a week for it to be delivered from china rather than to spend nights trying to compile a module for this crappy card
(of course if there's no whitelist in your bios) |
