I'm wondering if there is a preinstallation check list for gentoo x64 amd? I haven't been able to locate one, in the passed I had found some kernel perameters that might have served well in helping me make sure I configure gentoo correctly from installation, and have one less action to perform as post-installation maintenance. I can't seem to relocate that material, although I have found both versions of the installation guides from the main pages.

I'm not really sure how looking up my hardware on the HCL will turn, I've heard Gentoo is a very customized brand of Linux and although I got it installed once before, I haven't really sized it up or tried to really utilize it yet so I can't say from personal experience. The former installation was a breeze, but I didn't perform kernel configuration with said perameter options, and it was also for an x86 build.

x64 is more time consuming from what I understand, unless I've got the installation material confused with linuxfromscratch. Anyhow, I dragged on, sorry to bother you for something that should be more readily available on the net, I just can't seem to find it again.

The handbook is a great checklist
The System Rescue Cd is the best install cd Boot a sysreccd 64 bit kernel to the xfce GUI, start firefox and run a browser window with the handbook in it beside a terminal window. Copy and paste. When it is time to configure a kernel visit Pappy's lean and reliable seeds and directions .

can be replaced or supplemented using the driver listings found by running

Linux-sea a great reference and trouble guide.
