I asked for help on this subject, yet no one seemed to have a solution. So I continued to try different printer installations using CUPS. What I found out was:

1. Setup your printer for networking; assign to your SSID; provide your security (WEP, WPA) key/passcode; assign or auto assign an IP address. Once you have your printer
connected to your network successfully...
2. Start CUPS, then select "Administration" (provide your root/admin password as needed).
3. Select "Find New Printer".
4. You should now see your networked printer as a LPD/LPR Host or Printer.
5. Select the appropriate driver for the printer model.
6. Set your defaults.
7. Try to print a test page.

This worked flawlessly for 2 printers.

Moved from Networking & Security to Documentation, Tips & Tricks as it fits better here.
