:?:

Hello again,

I am trying to emerge gnome packages (so I can use a graphical interface, for goodness sake). However, emerge is stalling when resolving the ibiblio mirror as well as the ftp.rpm.org site. (I know this looks like a networking issue on my end, but wait, there's more...)

I ran ifconfig and found that my device was up and running.

Also, my resolv.conf file looks thus:

domain myname.mydomain.com
nameserver 192.168.0.1
nameserver 192.168.0.2

Any ideas? (btw, downloads were flying during installation)

It is very unlikely that the 192 addresses are actually nameservers. Your nameservers are most likely provided by your ISP.

What do you suggest considering that my ISP never gave me any DNS suffix information? (Actually I am in a sublet apartment, using the internet service of a friend, the previous tenant)

Where in, say a Windows Xp system, could I check for that information? (Network Connections --> TCP/IP Settings --> Properties), maybe?

I'm assuming I would want DNS suffixes, correct?
