|

Hello again,
I am trying to emerge gnome packages (so I can use a graphical interface, for goodness sake). However, emerge is stalling when resolving the ibiblio mirror as well as the ftp.rpm.org site. (I know this looks like a networking issue on my end, but wait, there's more...)
I ran ifconfig and found that my device was up and running.
Also, my resolv.conf file looks thus:
domain myname.mydomain.com
nameserver 192.168.0.1
nameserver 192.168.0.2
Any ideas? (btw, downloads were flying during installation) _________________ "Nobody calls me CHICKEN!"

It is very unlikely that the 192 addresses are actually nameservers. Your nameservers are most likely provided by your ISP. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

What do you suggest considering that my ISP never gave me any DNS suffix information? (Actually I am in a sublet apartment, using the internet service of a friend, the previous tenant) _________________ "Nobody calls me CHICKEN!"

Where in, say a Windows Xp system, could I check for that information? (Network Connections --> TCP/IP Settings --> Properties), maybe? _________________ "Nobody calls me CHICKEN!"

I'm assuming I would want DNS suffixes, correct? _________________ "Nobody calls me CHICKEN!"
