It seems rhythmbox hates my system. But it is inventive in finding new says to fail. Running rhythmbox I get Quote: | (rhythmbox:1626): GVFS-RemoteVolumeMonitor-WARNING **: invoking IsSupported() failed for remote volume monitor with dbus name org.gtk.Private.GduVolumeMonitor: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ChildSignaled: Process /usr/libexec/gvfs-gdu-volume-monitor received signal 6

Running with strace -fF rhythmbox, I get what follows just prior to the message above. Quote: | clock_gettime(CLOCK_MONOTONIC, {69292, 693975011}) = 0
poll([{fd=18, events=POLLIN}], 1, 25000) = 1 ([{fd=18, revents=POLLIN}])
recvmsg(18, {msg_name(0)=NULL, msg_iov(1)=[{"l\3\1\1C\0\0\0\3\0\0\0u\0\0\0\6\1s\
0\6\0\0\0:1.154\0\0"..., 2048}], msg_controllen=0, msg_flags=MSG_CMSG_CLOEXEC},
MSG_CMSG_CLOEXEC) = 203
recvmsg(18, 0x7fff46e26bf0, MSG_CMSG_CLOEXEC) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily
unavailable)
write(2, "\n(rhythmbox:1594): GVFS-RemoteVo"..., 272

Just for fun trying as root gives Quote: | ** Message: pygobject_register_sinkfunc is deprecated (GtkWindow)
** Message: pygobject_register_sinkfunc is deprecated (GtkInvisible)

I'm recently upgraded to dbus 1.4.0, but the previous version 1.2.24-r2 fails as well.
I suspect it has to do with use flags, but which ones?? An emerge of rhythmbox says Quote: | * If rhythmbox doesn't play some music format, please check your
* USE flags on media-plugins/gst-plugins-meta
| . Running equery uses gst-plugins-meta, gives Quote: | [ Legend : U - flag is set in make.conf ]
[ : I - package is installed with flag ]
[ Colors : set, unset ]
* Found these USE flags for media-plugins/gst-plugins-meta-0.10-r4:

Turning off the 'python' use flag made rhythmbox work again for me. I don't know what functionality I've lost because of this but my podcasts work so I don't care.
Before I would get the following when running rhythmbox:
Code: |
** Message: pygobject_register_sinkfunc is deprecated (GtkWindow)
** Message: pygobject_register_sinkfunc is deprecated (GtkInvisible)
** Message: pygobject_register_sinkfunc is deprecated (GtkObject)
** Message: pygobject_register_sinkfunc is deprecated (GstObject)
Segmentation fault
|
I also ran strace but I couldn't see anything relevant (but the output was long). |

That (using -python for rhythmbpx) fixed things for me. Thanks. |

I've got the same problem with sonata (gtk front-end for mpd). I'd like to solve this like you but sonata hasn't got "python" use flag. Does anybody got ideas? |
