OK,I got 2 Sparcs (for free). A SparcServer/Station 4 and a SparcClassic.
the SparcServer 4 comes with 96MB Memory and 2 external 4.2 G disks and a CD-Drive.
The clasic cames with a external 400MB and a ext. CD-Rom, but has just 16MB.
On the SpaceClassic I installed Debian (I tried Gentoo, but with just 2x400 MB and this slow SpaceProc, I decided to use a pre-compiled Linux).
t runs, but Xfree is messy.
1. Should I increase Mem to its max (96 M) on the Classic ?
I like to have Xfree up an runnig, and, yes, I'm masochistic, KDE.
2. As on the SparcServer4 is out-of-order, I tried Netboot, but I just go some probs. I'm pretty shure that raprd and tftpd(-hpa) runs well, but I got on the Sun a timeout. I connected via TPE the Sun to a hub and set TPE-LIMK-TEST? to false.
I heard, that some Sun are making some "hub" - tests before they come up. Also I see, that the LED on the Hub showing the connection is off.
So, could it be the hub ? So go an get a new hub/switch ?
Or : try to get a new CD-Rom (they are very expansive, up to 199EUR).
Does some of you in germany can name some Dealers, I jsut only know Gall, Sunparts, uso. And, sorry, they are not realy cheap. Ebay doesn't offer what I need.
Sorry, for that, but I'm very new to sun (OK, I use Suns at work, but there are some Sysadmins, doing it...yes, I asked them, but the company doest buy "used goods".
any help welcome,
thanks in advance,

sorry, the external CD-ROM Drive for the SparcStation 4 is out of order. It dosen't tronsport the CD into the slot inside. The "glider" doesn't work.
that the reason I tried netboot on it.
