Hi!

Zusäztlich zu meiner 40gb System und Datenplatte hab ich jetzt noch ne kleine und langsame 1.2gb Platte bekommen.

Da meine jetzige HD eigentlich immer unter Volllast ist ( ;) ) möchte ich gerne ne zusätzliche Swappartition einrichten.
Frage: Lohnt sich das?
Oder wie würdet ihr die kleine Platte am Besten als resourcensparer verwenden?

Swap Partitione klingt nicht schlecht.
Aber auch als Home Partition sollte sie auch tauglich sein.
Mach doch 200 MB für Swap und den Rest als Home Verzeichnis..

Hmm, als Home-Partition für meinen Arbeitsrechner würde es mit 1.2GB nicht reichen. :wink:
Swap wäre wohl keine schlechte Lösung, aber ich denke, swap-space sollte doch recht schnell sein. Zuviel davon ist auch nicht soo toll.

Mein Vorschlag (wenn nicht zuviel Arbeit):
Mach doch (mit einer gleichgroßen Partition auf deiner 40GB-Platte) ein RAID-0 draus und lege /tmp drauf. Wird dann wohl schnell genug sein dafür und ca. 2.4GB groß. Ich denke, daß reicht für /tmp.
Allerdings mußt du wohl deine 40GB-Platte neu partitionieren, und ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob das so einfach geht (LVM?)...

Swap-partition ja, der Kernel versucht normalerweise auf alle vorhandenen Swaps zu verteilen - aber versprich' dir keine Wunder davon! Dann hast du eben 2 Harddisks auf Vollast laufen. Wenn's wirklich so schlimm ist, dann kann man nur etwas Ram wärmstens empfehlen.
Den Rest würd' ich verwenden, wo etwas Platz vonnöten ist aber nicht ständig Zugriffe erfolgen. Bsp: /usr/portage oder /usr/share/docs.

Ich werde mir mal überlegen was ich machen werde. RAID scheint mir zu kompliziert, vielleicht 2.e Swap+Temp auf neue Platte.. schaumerma :)
