As of midnight (EST) on 20100724, I'm showing dev.gentooexperimental.org as offline.
Some tarballs are hosted there, referenced by ebuild on bugs.gentoo.org, that I need for a local portage overlay.
Anyone have any insider info on this server? |

Seems (at least) to be a DNS issue:
Code: | dig -t A dev.gentooexperimental.org
; <<>> DiG 9.7.1 <<>> -t A dev.gentooexperimental.org
;; global options: +cmd
;; Got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: SERVFAIL, id: 38510
;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 0, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0
;; QUESTION SECTION:

;; Query time: 1 msec
;; SERVER: 192.168.178.1#53(192.168.178.1)

You could try sending him an e-mail (see WHOIS). But it may also be that he's on vacation.
edit: The name servers appear to work, at least I can ping them. Looking up historical records of dev.gentooexperimental.org, it seems to have the IP address 81.93.240.53. But that machine seems to be down. _________________ lxg.de – codebits and tech talk |

Yes, bonsaikitten is on vacation atm. I don't know if he'll get the message or get it fixed before he's back. He had said he was going for a couple weeks, so it'll be one more before he's back. _________________ Brian

I could go knocking at his door this evening … according to WHOIS, we live in the same city. _________________ lxg.de – codebits and tech talk |

Yelling at #gentoo helped. :)

I don't know what this is, but it is not svn.gentooexperimental.org
Maybe the latter had a dynamic IP? |

Perhaps it was. But now this address belongs to some machine which sends an ssl certificate which is not the previous one of svn.gentooexperimental.org - I accepted it experimentally, but there is no svn server on the machine: This IP belongs definitely to a different machine now. And svn.gentooexperimental.org remains unaccessible for me now after much more than 1 month... |

Thanks a lot for your effort. Unfortunately, it still seems to be wrong: It belongs to gentooexperimental.org (at least, it states so if I call it without https), but does not seem to be the svn server (the browser interface accepts no ssl; subversion gets some ssl certificate but then throws a strange error [XML parsing failed; method not allowed]). I suppose it is "gentooexperimental.org" (without svn.). |

damn! well I have a VM on the same hardware and I know when the owner went off on hols he had some fun to come back to
iirc he was battling with dns a couple of weeks ago but that should have been resolved. _________________

mv, since you don't have access to svn.genooexperimental.org either,
my need for the ip has disappeared. i only wanted it for checking
https://svn.gentooexperimental.org/eix/trunk/ChangeLog.
or did you move your repo to somewhere else ? |

Nope, this is the only repo of eix. I suppose, next eix will appear only as a tarball... |
