What do I do if my video card isn't listed in the xf86config program? I have an NVIDIA Riva TNT2 but all that's listed for NVIDIA is the GeForce. Sorry in advance if this is a dumb question but I've never configured X before. :?

The drivers nvidia provide support for the TNT2. You can easily emerge them into your system following the well written instructions here.

I probably should reproduce the steps here (for future readers) as the link may change ... but I'm lazy. :D

You do not need a kernel driver for your NVIDIA card!
Follow this documentation. Setting up a NVIDIA card is pretty simple!

You may also check this post after sucessfully setting up your X :)

Picking any Nvidia card will end up giving you the "nv" driver which works with any Nvidia card, so just pick any and it will work.

If you want 3d support then you'll have to install the drivers from Nvidia's site.
