Okay, so I was merging Open Office and after it failed for teh second time for lack of space, I started rm -r *-ing with extreme prejudice....and, long story short, I nuked my profile dir for portage and now I am borked.
Can anyone tell me how to recreate it (it was a P3 vanilla system...I hadnt messed with any of the stuff in that directory since the 1.4 install).
Better yet, can someone post theirs so I can rip it off? I have no idea how big a request this is, b/c I honestly don't know how much stuff was in there.
Thanks to any kind souls for helping out a real BIG dumbarse like myself.... |

An 'emerge rsync' will restore it. |

I'd say an "emerge sync" will fix it all; the contents of your installed system is located in /var/db, so its no biggie |

Pfft, that's not going to set you into crazy panic mode. Delete all your music. Then realize what you just did. That's crazy panic mode (Although, I did find it all, or most of it, again :p).
Portage though, is pretty resiliant against stupidity. A very nice job that the developers did on that. Anything i program, well, it breaks much easier . |
