when i try to install gentoo on to my main rig and at the 2nd screen where it says to press enter to automatcily detectthe devices i get
*1000:0020(rev 01); loading sym53c8xx_2... !!
*1000:0020(rev 01); loading sym53c8xx_2... !!
then later i try to do modprobe ncr53c8xx it says it can not locate the modual.
How do i fix that
I have asked that question in #gentoo several times and no one has said anything about it |

i have this card..you dont want the ncr you want the sym53c8xx module when installing...i.e. modprobe sym53c8xx and then modprobe sd_mod , i think thats what i did...when configuring the kernel then you would compile in support directly and use the sym2 version you can also enable 64bit addressing. |
