im just wondering if there's anyway to hide all the stuff the scrolls by when you boot a linux OS. kinda like the way windows does with the windows splash.

or on dell and HP computers, the bios stuff is hidden and replaced with their respective logos.

im wanting to play a prank on my linux hating wife.... i found a gui that looks EXACTLY like windows.....

anyone know if this is possible?

I have no man page for lilo and a small man page for grub. The short version I have for grub did not list any "silent" type of option. I would imagine these are the places you'd want to look. HTH, Bill

There are several packages out there to do this, although I haven't checked if any ebuilds exist for them. Mandrake and SuSE both do this, but I haven't used either in so long, I can't remember the names of the packages :) I think Mandrake's was Aurora or something similar.
