Unigine have a released a new benchmark tool for Linux.

There are 26 levels to the test and it will give you the results in an html file.

This will be a very handy tool for checking performance between driver & kernel upgrades.

My current results :

The thing with this tool, it's definitely a better benchmark than glxgears. I'll be running it after every kernel upgrade, X upgrade, and nvidia-driver upgrade.

How'd you get such a high fps?we practically have the same gpu. Might be because I'm running compiz?

Compiz would be a likely culprit. Also, there is a fairly significant difference between a 9800M and a 9800 GTX+.

With compositing off (using KDE) I get slightly better results :
