EDIT : This thread support ati-drivers 10.5 with xorg-server-1.8.1 starting by this post : https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-6298939.html#6298939

I have made ebuild for:
-Catalyst 10.3 (named ati-drivers-10.3-r1) : Catalyst 10.3 with OpenGL 3.3 (HD2xxx+) and OpenGL 4.0 (HD5xxx)
-Catalyst 10.4 Ubuntu-leaked (named ati-drivers-10.4) : I use them with kernel 2.6.34-rc2 & X7.5 (Xserver 1.7.6), OpenGL 3.2

They are available on gentoo-quebec overlay

ati-drivers-10.3 have a watermark on the corner of each screen that say : "AMD Test use only".
You can disable it by pasting that in a root terminal :
Code:
echo 'd86529c71a19f73bcb899faf02ef234a:e04b1ef62834c60bfbbaaf9d60c21373ee5c11f25934b66f82a9aa9b32dc1772:bd551da52b7c910df9b1ac9b61d91328be074ba67b7fce5ffdb9fc9d33dc1479bd001ca42b289109feb0ac9b60d9152ce05748fe7b78ce59f8bbfbcc33d81478' > /etc/ati/signature

According some reports, Catalyst 10.4 work on X GIT ( 1.8 ) too.

EDIT : I'm not sure that the Cata 10.4 work on X < 7.5. I will probable update the ebuild depend today.

Yeah, the Catalyst 10.3 "hotfix" as AMD name them support opengl 3.3 and 4.0.

Catalyst 10.4 don't support them but I will not be surprised if it will be supported soon.

could anyone please provide an ebuild for that driver which works ?

for me it just shows an error while trying to execute / extract the run-file with "fileformat not recognized" :(

Can anyone tell me if agpgart support is needed in kernel config? I have 3850 pcie card.
Kernel 2.6.33 gentoo sources with reiser4 and bfs patches. Everytime when i emerge ati-drivers and try to run Xorg -configure i get segfault. When xf86-video-ati is installed then Xorg -configure works fine.

DestroyFX please post your emerge --info, and xorg.conf.
Dunno whats causing my problem, but i am trying to install fglrx 2 days already and i always fail. X -configure segfaults when i emerge ati-drivers 10.4. I 've tried to downgrade xorg-server to 1.6.5 and emerge ati-drivers 10.2 10.3 and still same problem. When i set fglrx driver in xorg.con i just get blank screen and nothing happens i also tried manual instalion using run package still no success. This fglrx problem is pissing me off :(

I know that ati-drivers 10.4 aka flgrx 8.721 needs > xorg-server 1.7. Even if i mask all xorg 7.5 packages and install old xorg-server 1.6.5 and compatible drivers it still segfaults, must be something with my configuration. Btw please post your xorg.conf. Well for now i emerged radeonhd and enabled dri in kernel so atleast i can play quakelive now.

One more question for you DestroyFX :)
Do you have sys-libs/libstdc++-v3 installed?

how did you get it working ?

for me glxinfo, fglrxinfo, compiz, kwin with compositing simply segfault :cry:

and show the following error:

Xorg.0.log.old on pastebin.com

(no errors that would matter)

glxgears --> just says "Segmentation fault" and doesn't run

compiz also doesn't run - I had to downgrade to xorg-server 1.6.5* again since I need this X-server for production, I'll probably post the additional output in the weekend;

xorg.conf:
Quote:

thanks !

P.S.:

hedmo, could you please post output of

Code:
gcc -v

and which graphics card & platform (intel core or amd phenom; 32bit or 64bit ) are you using ?

I'm still trying to get fglrx working... I have reinstalled gentoo, now i use stable branch, but still everytime i get blank screen. Maybe its because driver cannot detect monitor or smth? I mean aticonfig --query-monitor shows no monitors connected and no monitors enabled. Now when i use fglrx in xorg.conf i get just blank screen and have to use alt+sysrq+reisub but after reboot Xorg.0.log is empty, but i remember there was last line in log
fglrx using adapter and that was all. Any ideas what to do?
