|
|
Here's the skinny:
Since I've started using the 2.6 kernel, I've been unable to play audio CDs. The cable between my soundcard & cdrom drive is still connected. I'm able to play MP3s & other music formats, but audio CDs just don't show up in Grip or XMMS.
Any hints would be appreciated... _________________ -It's gonna take a lot of fireworks to clean this place up. |

/dev/hdd is the CD-Rom drive I'm trying to play from. It handles data CDs just fine... _________________ -It's gonna take a lot of fireworks to clean this place up. |

I had the exact same problem. I have an external digital receiver and I'm running digital coax to my soundcard, and everything else works.
Check these things to fix your problem:
1. alsamixer cd volume
2. alsamixer digital output enabled / volume
3. check cdplayer plugin in xmms, and enter the cdrom device and the mount point
4. if all that doesn't work, upgrade to xmms 1.2.8 using ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge xmms and the go into the preferences cdplayer plugin and you'll have more options. for me it was digital audio extraction
Hope this helps!
