I want to do an emerge -u system, in order to have all installed packages updated. I presume this is the correct way to do that?
Now when I do this I get an error like "couldn't find match for ~sys-libs/glibc-2.2.5 in update (likely old var/db/pkg entry)"
I suspect this package was automatically deleted or something when I did an emerge rsync. How can I fix this?
thanks in advance. |

OK, another possible issue may be that the /var/cache/edb/dep/ directory is missing. If it is, do a mkdir to create it. Let us know how you fix it. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

I edited the package.mask file and I put a # infront of >=syslibs/glibc-2.2.5-r6 that seemed to work
I think there should be a good faq on how the package system exactly works, anyone knows one (except for man emerge) ? |

Well, there's the Portage manual and the Portage User Guide. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |
