Hi!

I want to install Gentoo on my old SPARCEngine Ultra AXi... Only have two SCSI disk and one PC configured to serve TFTPD boot images.

I can only boot ok with the gentoo-sparc64-2005.0-20050717.tftpboot image... the newers version crash o turn my screen black.

The problem with this ftfp image is when I tray to make a chroot for the 2008.0 profile of gentoo :(
Code:
ERROR: kernel too old

how can boot my oldie sparc to install gentoo?

I try with many debian tftp images but it's freeze the keyboard :(

thanks a lots and sory by my poor english[/url]

I know it's been some time, but can you please try the latest image available now, instead?

From now on, I'll generate a new netboot image when it fixes a bug, or when a used package goes stable (eg sys-kernel/gentoo-sources).

If I recall correctly, the 2005.0 netboot image you used above is 2.4 based (not supported by Gentoo/SPARC), thus the error (ie the stage you used has a glibc which needs a 2.6 kernel).

Since, they're quite similar to U5/U10 they should work out of the box.

Hope that helps.
