|
|
Hello fellow gentooers,
I use KDE with some GTK/Gnome-Apps like Firefox or EasyTag. In KDE I can open files and folders using a single-click. In GTK/Gnome-Apps, e.g. in the file-open-dialogues, I have to double-click to open them. Is there any way to change this behaviour to single-click too? I know that there is an option for that in the Gnome mouse-settings but since I don't use Gnome I cannot use that config-tool. There has to be a way to do it using some config files...
Thanks in advance!
Cheers,

Odd, you would think that gnome-apps would follow gnome mouse settings no matter what environment they are running under. Perhaps it is your file manager that is not sending the correct event to the application? _________________ Time is what keeps everything from happening all at once. |

No, sorry, maybe I did not explain things good enogh. I do not have gnome mouse settings since I don't use Gnome and I would like to avoid installing it for just one option...

I'm not sure if it's possible, even with a full Gnome installation.
I have one, and the Gnome file manager is setup to single_click.
So I can single_click an icon on the desktop or in nautilus, but still must double_click in Firefox and other GTK apps to open a file, whether I'm in Gnome or other WM/DE. |

Cheers back at ya B-)
I am thinking though that if I were writing a gnome specific app my program would check gnome settings to determine how it should respond to events. _________________ Time is what keeps everything from happening all at once. |

Full ACK! I just installed gconf-editor to see if an option is available, but since gnome is not running it is almost empty. _________________ "People said I should accept the world. Bullshit! I don't accept the world!"

Firefox and easytag are not gnome apps, they just use GTK toolkit, gtk and gnome are not the same, there is no gconf setting that can be changed if app doesn't use gconf and gnome libs, and I think also that firefox doesn't use gtk fileshooser but some custom made chooser. There is this bug https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121113 but still isn't solved. |

Thanks for this information. So I guess I'll have to wait (hopefully not another six years) until this gets fixed upstream. _________________ "People said I should accept the world. Bullshit! I don't accept the world!"

No, that's fine. At least you tried. That's what I like about Gentoo: the great community _________________ "People said I should accept the world. Bullshit! I don't accept the world!"

I know, little late...
I put a modified gtk3-ebuild into my overlay, that applies a modified version of the patch attached to the upstream bug report.
Read the pkg_postinst-message, as the new key "click-policy" did not show up automatically, at least for me. |
