Currently I do not have pcmcia/cardbus configured in the kernel. I have loaded the pcmcia-cs as instructed. But this is what I get when I try to start pcmcia (I also modified the memory settings as stated):
bash-2.05a# ./pcmcia start
* Starting pcmcia...
cardmgr[4713]: no pcmcia driver in /proc/devices
* cardmgr failed to start. Make sure that you have PCMCIA
* loaded, either as a module or built into the kernel
Any Ideas? It is correct, there is no pcmcia driver in the path stated. I am running a Dell Latitude C840 with a goal of running a Cisco Aeronet Wireless.
Thanks! |

add the following lines to /etc/modules.autoload
pcmcia_core
i82365
ds
After adding that fire it up again and pcmcia should load perfectly. |

I added it with the only success being the yenta_socket. The i82365.o file is present, just not loading. I do however have a successful initialization with the yenta_socket....however...
I have a Cisco Aironet 340 PCMCIA NIC, it does initalize, but I am unable to "latch" an interface to it. On the NIC the activity light locks on and stays on. In the /var/log/kernel/current I see:
Aug 10 04:03:02 [kernel] airo: Probing for PCI adapters
Aug 10 04:03:02 [kernel] airo_cs: Card Services release does not match!
Aug 10 04:03:02 [kernel] airo_cs: Card Services release does not match!
I am running the wireless nic as a module in the kernel.
Any help would be appreciated...I really don't want to go back to SuSE 8.0....Gentoo is an eye opener...
