Hi,
I've got a slow (dialup) connection at home, but a very fast one, and a CD-RW, at work. Can I get all of the gentoo packages at once, and then emerge them individually from cd, so i don't have to download anything at home? |

Yes! I posted a rather lengthy explanation on how to do this somewhere else on these forums, but I am honestly too lazy to go find it. So here is the quick run down.
Download and burn all the packages you need. Go home, mount the cd with the packages, and copy them to /usr/portage/distfiles
Any time you don't want to download a package at home, you can definitely follow the above method as portage first looks for the source package in /usr/portage/distfiles before going out on the net. Hope this helps. I use dialup right now, and that is how I got started.
hope this all helps out.
