Hi hedmo
I'm wondering why your xorg is trying to load vesa driver.
an you start X without an xorg.conf file?
And also try running X -configure and use the /root/xorg.conf.new as your /etc/x11/xorg.conf
Does that solve one of your issues?
Why can't you enable AGP in your kernel? |

For some inexplicable reason the instructions for installing the various GUIs and window managers don't all start with the step, "First, install and configure the X Windows system." They should. See The X Server Configuration HOWTO. Unfortunately, X has gone through some changes lately and the latest information hasn't been integrated into the document referenced above. As a result, you also need to look at the Xorg 1.6 Upgrade Guide.
Together, this documentation walks you through the setup of your graphics card drivers andf the overall proper configuration of X. Installing X properly also installs some of the items (e.g., fonts) that are currently being reported as missing when you try to start X.

You need to install the xf86-video-ati driver. Ati-driver (fglrx) and RadeonHD doesn't support your hardware. Only xf86-video-ati will work. |

that's wrong. every card that radeon supports, radeonhd supports, they are based on the same dependencies. _________________ Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity and I'm not sure about the former - Albert Einstein |

you current video_cards settings will pull all drivers, it is not recommended to have both oss and official drivers on the same system, this is a recipe for problems. _________________ Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity and I'm not sure about the former - Albert Einstein |

Hi, you should try this at least :
and without any /etc/X11/xorg.conf and then later we will make your 3D driver work |

xorg does not provide me with a xorg.conf at /etc/X11/ (only xorg.conf.example)
i got a working x Environment
on my newinstall i put radeon, radeonhd, fglrx in File: /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6 only fglrx worked.
after emerge nuDa world /etc/modules.autoload.d/ does not exist
the xorg error after Xorg -configure is something about fglrx |
