emerge --sync tells me to read the news by issuing a "eselect news" command, when I do that, I actually get:

Code:
!!! Error: Can't load module news
exiting

Google helped me with this link: https://bugs.gentoo.org/177325

So, am I supposed to guess that the module is actually called "news-tng"? Did something happen in between versions? Cuz I don't remember having this problem before and I don't think I unmasked the unstable eselect version that appears to solve the problem.

Huh?
Code:
# eselect news list
News items:
  (none found)

# eselect news-tng list
!!! Error: Can't load module news-tng
exiting

Weird, I have no eselect-news-tos, tng, ds9, etc... yet eselect news works ok here.
Code:
# qlist -Iv eselect
app-admin/eselect-1.2.3
app-admin/eselect-boost-0.3
app-admin/eselect-cblas-0.1
app-admin/eselect-ctags-1.10
app-admin/eselect-esd-20060719
app-admin/eselect-fontconfig-1.0
app-admin/eselect-opengl-1.0.8-r1
app-admin/eselect-python-20090606
app-admin/eselect-ruby-20090909
app-admin/eselect-vi-1.1.6
Did I miss something?

Yeah, you missed the fact that you're using an unstable eselect, while I'm not. Like I said, bug #177325 suggets that it was fixed in eselect-1.2_rc1

So I'm puzzled now. At home I'm using the same eselect version and eselect news works :?:

maybe app-admin/eselect-news is still installed ? You may need to run emerge --depclean --ask to remove it.
