Dustbin is really screwing up my google searches. I know I can just add -dustbin to my searches, but spam really pisses me off. Any chance you guys can just delete the entire forum, messages and all?

Thankie,
Daniel

I agree, some sort of automated kill-after-so-many-days script would be nice, if not already implemented. If it is, shorten that time period.

i never understood why they never just set the dustbin to user+guest hidden, but it's not my forum to make suggestions... :P

Given that some of the topics in Dustbin are not exactly spam, there might be some stuff in there worth leaving visible to users. As such, it has only been hidden from users who are not logged in.

For some reason that doesn't seem to be the case: http://209.85.129.132/search?q=cache:068os77pNN4J:forums.gentoo.org/viewforum-f-48.html%3Fsid%3Ddeaaf114a5019f1be05fd7709169f7c0+site:forums.gentoo.org+dustbin&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&lr=lang_en

unless you added some functionality, phpbb v2 did not have any search bot-related user groupings, so they are treated as unregistered guests... the dustbin has been visible the whole time. :?

It is now, I had made the changes within a few minutes prior to posting that.

There is some special behavior used when handling requests by some known bots, including Google, but it is not Dustbin specific behavior.
