emerge sync problem

I'm getting this error while "emerge sync" is running and I'm not sure what caused it or how to fix it. I don't think it was pilot error...

If you're not on dialup try the following:
- delete your /usr/portage tree (save distfiles though)
- make sure you have free space on /usr/portage (200-300 MB)
- run emerge --sync again
