I haven't been paying attention to this problem as i had midterms, however i was gathering via wget a local copy for my own use, i'd be happy to send what i have to help rebuild the content

I've been unable to reach gentoo-wiki.com all day.
Is anyone else experiencing this? |

I believe the gentoo-portage site is down as well. Last I heard, both the wiki and gentoo-portage sat on the same server being mantained by the same person outside of Gentoo. Hopefully they come back soon. _________________ Gentoo は行く方法である!

Has anyone spoken to Mike Valstar lately and knows why gentoo-wiki.com is down?
I thought there were mirrors after the problems 9 months ago, but i cannot find them. |

That happened around 9 months ago and the new wiki was already there.
After that happened he wrote that there would be backups and mirrors in the future.
But the wiki seems down for quite a long time atm.
It could be that Mike is on holidays or something, but if that is the case, there should be others that can fix issues when something goes bad.
To be fair it is quite a problem when the wiki is down, because when people search google for a howto, most results they get will be the gentoo-wiki.com.
Speaking of the mirrors that would be there, shouldn't they be accessible when the main is down? Where to find the mirrors?
Having backups and mirrors now is better than it was before, but it seems things aren't perfect yet... |

Thank you for this thread. Unfortunately when searching the backup wiki it seems to find links to the site that is down. There was a brilliant article:
http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/Root_filesystem_over_LVM2,_DM-Crypt_and_RAID
When I search the backup wiki it finds this link (which is obviously down). I'm really missing it. (I want to set up my new netbook....)
I love gentoo but one of its great strengths was the level of documentation. Thank you. |

gentoo-portage.com seems down as well. which is unsurprising as it looks like it's located in the same place.
Hope they can back soon... _________________ Michele Beltrame

It was up for a day or two, but is down again now.
This is getting quite annoying, i am thinking of setting up a static mirror myself. |

It was down for a short period last night due to a tropical storm. |

I'd just like to say thanks for getting the wiki up again, great effort.
Gentoo has many strengths, but as I mentioned in my earlier post, the level and detail of the wiki is one important strength imho. |

After the last lot of downtime I have set up a mirror of the Gentoo Wiki.
I'll keep it updated about once a week or so.
Its also hosted in Australia, so some aussies may prefer it as a reference.
Feel free to contact me about it. |

Lately, the en.gentoo-wiki.com has been very flaky at best to access. What's going on, and when it's going to be stable again? |

Yeah, that's why Gentoo needs an official wiki ASAP. |

I hate it when peopple bring up the "official" thing. In my experience the Gentoo Forums are unavailable just as frequently as Gentoo Wiki. Having Gentoo Wiki as an official project is not a magic bullet. |

Here is a question. Why are these resources going down so frequently? I assume that the servers involved run Gentoo Linux, so the down time reflects poorly on Gentoo. |
