| It's an official release. There will be no 2009.0 release. The minimal cds and stages are now being built automatically on a weekly basis. |

but in gentoo site tells,the 2008 release is deprecated and will be remove soon.what will replace 2008 release if there will be not 2009 release?

What about portage profiles will they just halt at 2008.0?

No. New profiles are created at need, not on a set schedule.

As already stated, the auto-built CDs and stages are the next release--and the one after that, and the next one, and its successor and so on.
Gentoo has moved from a once-or-twice a year release cycle to a continuous-release model, with new installation media released every week (approximately, subject to the occasional vagaries of automated processes). These are not "beta" versions, nor have they "release" or "version" numbers as in the past. They are the real McCoy, released at a pace that better suits the version-less nature of a Gentoo installation.
Some of our documentation is still being updated to reflect this change. I'm beginning to think it's time for a FAQ or a sticky on this subject, to clarify the Get Gentoo! page in the interim.
