When I installed my Gentoo system May this year, there was a major problem between kdemultimedia-3.0 and alsa-0.9, which meant that to have any hope of successfully compiling KDE, one had to put in a USE="-alsa". Here's one such discussion thread.
I'd like to re-enable ALSA for the serial-port MIDI support, but given the amount of trouble I had last time, I'm very loathe to try it without a reasonable assurance that the previous problem has been fixed. Can anyone who experienced the same build problem confirm that it has now been fixed? |
