Howdy. I've got a VA Linux box that I am trying to
install Gentoo on. It has a Mylex DAC960 RAID card in
it. It also has two onboard Adaptec SCSI controllers
that are not used.
When I boot off the Gentoo 1.1a x86 CD and let it
autodetect the PCI devices, it fails to detect it. So
I do a "modprobe DAC960" at the prompt. It comes up
with a description of the module - and then it hangs
there.
Am I missing a step somewhere? Do you have to treat
these cards special?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone
needs more info, I will gladly send all that is
needed.

hey just out of curosity how does it detect the onboard adapec controllers during the pci scan?
and can these controllers be disabled like by jumper settings or in the bios...possibly if they could be see what happens when you modprobe the mylex card then...you might also try #insmod dac960 |
