The kernel stops booting at this point.
Code:
PROMLIB: Sun IEEE Boot Prom 'OBP 4.0.45 2001/02/08 14:33'
PROMLIB: Root node compatible:
Linux version 2.6.27-gentoo-r5 (root@hummingbird) (gcc version 4.2.4 (Gentoo 4.2.4 p1.0)) #1 Sun Dec 7 20:55:28 PST 2008
console [earlyprom0] enabled
ARCH: SUN4U
Ethernet address: 00:03:ba:04:a3:b4
Kernel: Using 2 locked TLB entries for main kernel image.
Remapping the kernel... done.
the next step should be...
Code:
OF stdout device is: /pci@1f,0/SUNW,m64B@13:r1024x768x75
but never gets that far

[    0.000000] PROM: Built device tree with 61325 bytes of memory.

Mine just works fine.

Have you installed framebuffer support?
Code:
CONFIG_FB_ATY=y

Do you use the "append" line in the silo.conf?
Code:
append = "video=atyfb:1024x768@60"

And I suggest using a newer kernel >=2.6.27-r7, because it fixes some problems with shutting down the machine.

Maybe a problem with your RAM? Maybe a problem with OBP? You could try to update/reset it. I'm just guessing, as i never had such problem before.
What about a newer kernel? 2.6.27-r10, 2.6.28-r5 or 2.6.29-r2? Does the live CD work?

Switched Kernel page size set to (8KB) and that fixed it.
