Hi,
first I'd like to apologize if this has been asked bfor
Now here's my question. I just dropped in the SBLive!Value card into my box to replace the onboard sound(alsa:via-snd686). I use alsa and devfs. I have managed to get sound to work with aplay, but for some reason devfs doesn't create /dev/dsp device. I followed the 'Desktop Configuration guide' on this site. I checked my alsa config against some other posts on this forum and they pretty much match. Also my /etc/devfsd.conf is standard too. What are some of the things that I should check?
thanx for your time,

Ahh -Ha!
i got it. I was browsing these forums today and found a post on some sound related issue that Curious (i believe it was him) was having. It mentioned smthg about devfs not creating devices in /dev/misc.
The solution posted by the other member(JeffP@@) was to disable /dev/pts (? is that right) in kernel: File Systems -> '/dev/pts for Unix98 PTYs'.
So i done that - and i have my /dev/dsp back! Here's a link to that post: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=2443&highlight=dev+misc
Thanx guys! I learned smtg new today!
