|
|
Hi,
First of all I'd like to stress that I'm n00b to gentoo linux (previously I had RedHat 9 on Toshiba laptop)
I have following problems:
1. How to make my USB mouse working (I have Logitech MX700 but I thinks it matters when configuring)
2. How to enable Framebuffer
The most irritating thing for me is that while installing gentoo (stage1) it detects all I have installed (f.e. Logitech USB receiver, audio, video etc) and runs Framebuffer as well. So I concluding that I can my mouse get working as well as Framubuffer and other stuff. There is only question... how?....
Ad.1. [mouse]
To get my usb mouse working I searched this forums and in general all boils down to have properly configured kernel and it's modules:
mousedev
usbmouse
usb-uhci
input
However it does nothing As I wrote above I'm not an advanced user so I don't know how to check what's wrong (except starting X server to see if my mouse works).
Unplugging and plugging my mouse doesn't give any kernel messages
and I don't see any description simillar to usb mouse in /proc/bus/usb/devices.
I have my mouse connected through my monitor (USB hub).
Ad.2.
I've tried to start Framebuffer as it's written in:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=49036&highlight=frame+buffer
However after booting to FB I have black screen
But my X server works when I do startx (though I can't do anything cause my mouse doesn't work *))
Any suggestion are welcome (except RTFM).
I'm interested in where should I chceck what is wrong.
What should I do to have simillar kernel configuration like during installation.
regards, cypis
PS. I've also put a polish topic in here https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?p=566690#566690 _________________ pozdrawiam, cyprian |

Check your /etc/X11/XF86Config
for my usb mouse
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mouse0"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
# Option "Resolution" "1200"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" # for the wheel
EndSection _________________ ---------------

I have only:
/dev/input/mice
/dev/mouse
/dev/usbmouse
But none of them is working
I think it's a matter of XFree config but of getting my mouse started.
But thanks anyway happypup.. _________________ pozdrawiam, cyprian |

A minute ago I've tried this command:
fbset
and I got following error:
open /dev/fb0: No such file or directory
What's wrong? _________________ pozdrawiam, cyprian |

The USB mouse device for me is /dev/input/mice and it didn't work for me at first either. How is your kernel configured? Do you have APIC compiled into the kernel? Do you have ACPI compiled into the kernel. Both have been known to have adverse effects on USB mice. I don't have the wireless mouse though only a regular Logitech USB optical.
Good luck. |

Thanks Panick007!
I've completely forgot about ACPI
I turned off ACPI opions in kernel - it helped
Now during boot gentoo detects Logitech USB receiver and LG Monitor USB hub
But I still have problem with FB
