|
|
I'm trying to setup my TV as a secondary display with my Geforce4 TI4200, and just can't quite seem to get it right. I put these options in the device section for my video card
Option "SecondMonitorHorizSync" "30-50"
Option "SecondMonitorVertRefresh" "60"
Option "MetaModes" "1152x864, 800x600; 1024x768, 800x600; 800x600, 640x480;"
Option "TVStandard" "NTSC-M"
Option "TwinViewOrientation" "RightOf"
specifying composite video doesn't seem to do anything either, the TV just stays blank. Any help would be appreciated. |

Sorry, forgot to post that I had "Option" "TwinView" in there. I tried "Option" "CRT, TV" and all that did was shut off the signal to my monitor and send some garbled output to the TV. In order to get the monitor working I had to reboot, killing X didn't bring back the console on it. |

try TV, CRT instead. Could be it's using the refresh rates the wrong way or something. (I'v had had a pain of a way figuring this out).
Also, try emerge -s nvtv (or something close to that).
Never used the tvout on linux myself, I use twinview though. |

"Option" "TV, CRT" does the same thing. I emerged nvtv, and whenever I click TV on, it kills the signal to the monitor and doesn't appear to send anything to the TV. |

I finally got it working, that "right of" was what was messing it up. Anybody happen to know how to choose which configuration file X uses when you type startx? This way I can just make an alias for when I want to use TV out. |

X --config doesn't let you pick the config file (just started X with no window manager/desktop), and I can't find this option in the help or man pages for startx or xinit. Also, I do want the display placed to the right of my main display, not just copied to the TV with Clone, so the clone option isn't what I want, Doesn't matter anyways since when I didn't specify it just stuck the display to the right of the monitor anyways.

Mine's centered fine, but it's got a bit of black empty space at the top and bottom of the screen, since 800x600 doesn't quite fit. Also, I think this is a Gnome/Metacity/nautilus problem, I can't move the mouse to the very top of the screen on the TV (not the black empty space, the very top of where the screen is being drawn). To fix that I just gave myself an extra 100 pixels of vertical virtual desktop on the TV. |
